The new RTP20 compact head for DCC coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) from Renishaw offers low-cost 'motorized' head functionality with integral TP20 touch-trigger probe. The automated controller axis of the RTP20 allows the integral TP20 probe to be moved to 168 repeatable positions in 15-degree increments using both the A and B controller axis, requiring a one-time only qualification for each stylus position. This ensures fast throughput for part inspection.

Improved Measuring, CMM Productivity

One of the key benefits includes improved measuring CMM productivity achieved via probe stylus module changing and automated indexing without the need for constant CMM system re-qualification. The RTP20 offers also offers increased reach and flexibility with a built-in controller axis extension that together with existing extension bars allow reach up to 168 mm (including maximum stylus module length). The RPT 20 utilizes the CMM system motion to lock and orientate the head, and together with the MCR20 probe changing rack this provides a fully automated measuring CMM system.

The existing range of TP20 stylus module provides a selection of trigger forces and directional sensing options as well as increased reach with EM1 and EM2 extension bars. A range of seven application specific stylus modules are available. Users can therefore easily access features to be measured and optimize system performance by ensuring the probe is applied to the surface at the best angle to achieve accurate measurements.
